The influence of print culture in the digital types of the first GUIs

O uso de computadores operados a partir de sistemas operacionais contribuiu muito com a propagação de fontes default de sistema. Isso permite indagar da seguinte forma: sabendo-se que a história da cultura impressa atravessara uma jornada produtiva de mais de quatrocentos e cinquenta anos, quais tipos foram projetados primeiramente para a tela? Redesigns, apenas adaptações ou tipos totalmente novos? Quais fontes foram as primeiras a receber revivals digitais? Isso se responde por meio de um levantamento que aponte os tipos digitais dos primeiros desktops. Essa pesquisa investiga o conjunto tipográfico presente nos primeiros sistemas operacionais. A retomada do percurso histórico dos tipos digitais demonstra uma inescapável influência do meio impresso.

The use with computers operated from operating systems contributed greatly to the spread of default font system. This allows inquire as follows: given that the history of print culture crossed a productive journey of over four hundred and fifty, what types were first designed for the screen? Redesigns, only adaptations or totally new types? What sources were the first to receive digital revivals? This is answered by a survey that points the digital typefaces of the early desktops. This research investigates the typographic this set in older operating systems. The resumption of the historical path of digital types demonstrates an inescapable influence of the print medium
