AMES: A Cooperative Production Management System supported by Digital Twins

"New technological paradigms of Industry 4.0, mainly driven bydigitalization and cyber-physical systems, demand the update of traditionalmanufacturing management systems (MES), as these systems need to integrateintelligent predictive logics to, for example, anticipate failures, reduce downtime, andensure better quality and stability in production. This article proposes the AMES(Advanced Manufacturing Execution System), a service-oriented system designintegrated with a digital twin, to manage a manufacturing pilot plant within theprinciples of Industry 4.0. The result of this research is demonstrated in the AMESsystem, which includes the reconfiguration of a conventional MES into an MES 4.0and its integration with a digital twin, whose effectiveness will be tested and validatedin an advanced pilot plant."
