Indian architecture is deeply rooted in social, ecological, and cultural identities. Indian architecture is more than 4000 years old; with each change in the society there was an evident change in the architecture and planning of the space. Indian architecture can be delayered into innumerable fabrics covered one over the other for thousands of years. The identification of architecture with the culture and religion is evident and appreciated by all historians; but the question is what lies ahead for Indian architecture? A country that is vast and holds a varied population of 1.353 billion;other factors like climate change, sustainability and technology as a catalyst in the design process to make architecture of India efficient and valued.This research deals with the historic timeline of Indian architecture; focusing on the impact of social, cultural and ecological influences on architecture also discussing the future trends and styles based on the current situation
