CHALLENGES AND NEW PERSPECTIVES IN NATURAL GAS CONTAMINANTS SEPARATIONS – OFFSHORE SCENARIO

"Natural gas is a crucial component of the global energy matrix, composed of hydrocarbons and contaminants such as CO2, H2S, and H2O, which must be removed to prevent corrosion and hydrate formation. In Brazil, pre-salt discoveries have boosted oil and gas production, but they face logistical and technological challenges, requiring efficient processes to minimize equipment weight, and maximize efficiency on platforms. This paper reviews the literature on various technologies, including chemical absorption, adsorption, and membrane separations. The results highlight specific advantages and challenges associated with each technology, as well as new perspectives on their applications."
