DISCUSSING THE DIGITAL MANUFACTURE PROCESS OF PROSTHESES FOR UPPER LIMBS

"The present work aims to discuss the processes of Digital Fabrication ofupper limb prostheses, focusing on models designed for partial hand amputations.The methodological approach was divided into the Exploratory Phase, whichprovided the conceptual framework for the project, and the Maker Phase, whereexperiences in fabricating two functional upper limb prosthesis prototypes, CyborgBeast and K-1 Hand, were shared. The discussions revealed significant potential forthese experiences to become real contributions to 3D-printed prostheticscommunities, such as E-NABLE. Sharing experiences and solutions reflects thisproject's immersion in the maker culture present in Digital Fabrication communitiesand aligns with future work on documenting processes and adapting models to aid inthe production of new upper limb prosthesis models."
