Article:
This paper discusses the relevance of CAVE systems in comparison with virtualand augmented reality head-mounted displays in terms of immersion experience, costs, maintenance, ease to use, interactivity, and social interaction. It is basedon a comparative study of a systematic literature review comprising the worksavailable at CumInCAD and IEEE databases in the period from 1998-2018, andempirical data from technical visits made to five CAVEs in Europe. Thediscussion seeks to cover the limits of each technology and questions the need forCAVEs nowadays.
