Trabalho completo:

Currently, there are numerous initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and greenhouse gases, with the goal of minimizing the effects of global warming. Many of these initiatives are associated with vehicular propulsion technologies. In this context, the literature suggests the fuel for future fleets equipped with ICE should be a biofuel atomized at ultra-high pressure. Therefore, the concurrent use of ethanol with diesel injection systems appears to be a promising combination to meet current needs. In light of the above, this study aims to evaluate the dynamic behavior of internal pressure in a common rail system, considering operation with hydrated ethanol and an arrangement containing SCV and PCV valves controlled by PWM. During the system operation with setpoints of 500, 700, and 1000 bar of average pressure, it was observed that, without energizing the injector, the behavior is governed by characteristic frequencies of valve actuation. When simulating injection events in an experimental test bench, depressurization levels of up to 30% of the average value were observed. Finally, it is cautioned the system is susceptible to producing fuel plumes with significant macro and microstructural variations, which could lead to a mismatch in the benefits that the system itself promises.
