This work examines the strategic importance of trademarks for Science and Technology Institutions (ICTs) in Brazil, focusing on their characteristics and the legal framework governing them. Using a bibliographic review and documentary analysis, the study highlights how trademarks serve as valuable assets that protect brand identity and facilitate innovation. The analysis of international agreements and Brazilian law reveals that trademarks empower ICTs to enhance their reputation, forge partnerships, and secure funding through licensing. The study concludes that a strategic approach to trademark management is crucial for ICTs to maximize their impact on technological advancement and economic growth.
