"The total soluble solids (TSS) index is used to quantify the concentration ofsugars and other compounds present in various fruits and other plant sources. Theobjective of the present study was to evaluate the variation of TSS from differentportions in piña of Agave sisalana. A specimen of sisal cultivated in Planosol soil washarvested and stored for 72 hours before the analysis. Different portions of the piñawere collected in triplicate. The juice of all the samples was used for TSSmeasurement. The Brix levels of the juice from each sampled portion ranged from 4.9ºto 17.8º. TSS increased in the piña from the base to the top and from the center to theedges. The TSS results for different parts of fresh piña varied from lower to higherwhen compared to the TSS of other Agave species."
