Joukosky´s equation: limitations in it´s application for real systems

Joukosky´s equation: limitations in it´s application for real systems

Caleffi, Vinicius ; Oliveira, Turan Dias ; Tofaneli, Luzia Aparecida ;

Completo:

Hydraulic transient occurs in all hydraulic systems, whenever fluid speed changes. This occurs through a mechanical pressure wave that propagates throughout the system from the point where the flow change is generated, being dampened by the system's friction until a new steady state is established. In this context, the Joukowsky´s equation is often considered as conservative pressure estimation. However, in certain real case scenarios this isn’t true. This work explored the scenarios in which this assumption is not true and based on the limitations of Joukwisky’s equation analyzing situations in which said equation is not sufficient to predict a system behavior.
