La brecha digital es un problema de cuya profundidad e implicaciones aún no comprendemos del todo. Aunque durante la pandemia del 2020 se vivió una rápida adaptación a establecer conexiones mediante medios digitales, las personas aún necesitan conectar entre el mundo físico y el digital de manera integral y sin disrupciones. Sin embargo, la diversidad de las relaciones humanas y sus múltiples capacidades hacen muy complejo el reto de acortar dicha brecha. Más allá del simple acceso a internet, nos referimos aqui la capacidad de adquirir habilidades digitales básicas que permitan navegar la red con inteligencia y efectividad, eliminando acciones innecesarias o pérdida de información importante para tomar decisiones.El Diseño puede construir puentes entre el mundo físico y digital mediante un abordaje que considere a todos los sentidos de la experiencia humana de manera integral, no autónoma, para que se complementen, interactúen y amplifiquen. El abordaje del Diseño Sensorial busca interrumpir la hegemonia de lo visual y reunir materiales y herramientas para trastocar el método tradicional de diseñar y, así mismo, articular influencia mediante el impacto positivo en la vida de las personas.

The depth and implications of the the digital gap are still to be understood completely. Although the 2020 pandemic saw a rapid adaptation to connecting through digital means, people still need to connect between the physical and digital worlds in a comprehensive and seamless way. However, the diversity of human relationships and their multiple capacities make it a very complex challenge to bridge this gap. Beyond simple access to internet we refer here to the basic digital skills that allow us to effectively navigate the web, eliminating unnecessary actions or loss of important information to make decisions. Design can build bridges between the digital and physical worlds through a sensory approach, that is, the consideration of all the senses of human experience in an integral, non-autonomous way, so that they complement, interact and amplify each other. The Sensory Design approach seeks to disrupt the hegemony of the visual in the popular culture, gather materials and tools to challenge the traditional method of designing, and articulate influence through positive impact on people's lives.
