"This article describes the creation and development process of the Data Visualization Design Project entitled ""Mapa da Saudade"" (Map of Nostalgia). It aims at showing the places in the city of Rio de Janeiro that people missed most during the Covid-19 pandemic. Considering the virus’ high spread level, social distancing was an effective way to prevent it. Social behavior changes became necessary: people had to stay at home and businesses and schools were closed. In this fragile context, hope was an important pillar to sustain people. With data from April 2021, when Brazil had recorded over 400,000 confirmed Covid-19 deaths, since the first in March 2020; the map presents a way to collect and analyze subjective social data such as hope and intimacy through a collaborative construction. Using data visualization tools, the map helps us gain insights and reflections on memories related to specific places in our city."
