Qualitative Assessment Map to Materials for Design

O estudo teve como objetivo testar uma ferramenta para compreensão da experiência do usuário com novos materiais, utilizando uma versão adaptada do kit desenvolvido por Camera e Karana (2018). Esta ferramenta foi projetada para investigar as qualidades sensoriais, interpretativas, afetivas e interativa dos materiais, valendo-se de um kit composto por um mapa de experiência, guia para facilitadores, cartão de vocabulário afetivo e interpretativo. O kit foi testado em duas oficinas realizadas em 2019, na Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo – FAUUSP, em São Paulo – SP, com 19 participantes, entre eles especialistas em Design, alunos de graduação, pós-graduação e professores. Na análise e discussão dos resultados, observou-se que os participantes puderam utilizar o kit sem dificuldades e que suas experiências geraram dados qualitativos para avaliação de materiais, que podem ser utilizados em projetos de design. Este primeiro estudo também suscitou adaptações que devem ser testadas em futuras oficinas, baseadas nos feedbacks dos participantes e pesquisadores.

This study aimed to test a tool for understanding the user experience with new materials, adopting an adapted version of the kit developed by Camera and Karana (2018). The tool was designed to investigate the sensory, interpretive, affective, and performative qualities of the materials, using a kit consisting of an experience map, a guide for facilitators, and affective and interpretive vocabulary cards. The kit was tested during two workshops held in 2019, at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism – FAUUSP, in São Paulo – SP, with 19 participants, including Design experts, undergraduate and graduate students, and professors. In the analysis and discussion of the results, it was observed that the participants were able to use the kit without any difficulties and that their experience generated qualitative data for the evaluation of materials for design projects. This first study also prompted some adaptations that should be tested in future workshops, based on feedback from the participants and researchers.
