"The purpose of this study was to conduct a preliminary investigationinto the introduction and spread of Prosopis juliflora (also known as algaroba, inportuguese) in Brazil, focusing on biomass production for energy purposes and themain producers of algaroba. The methodology involved a literature review. Thefindings revealed that algaroba has a higher yield than soybeans, and it can be grownin similar climate and soil conditions as soybeans and sugarcane, which are used asraw materials for the biofuels industry. The energy transition may not occur rapidly,and there is an opportunity to enhance the use of biofuels by exploring new biomasssources that are well-suited to the climatic conditions of the caatinga, such as algaroba."
