O design em regulamentações para formatação de tabelas nutricionais: uma perspectiva internacional

Design in formatting regulations for nutrition facts panels: an international view

A rotulagem nutricional se destaca enquanto ferramenta para garantir o acesso à informação e estimular que consumidores de alimentos façam escolhas mais saudáveis. Entre os diversos constituintes dos rótulos de produtos alimentícios, tem-se a tabela nutricional, a qual oferece a declaração detalhada de nutrientes contidos no alimento. Trata-se de uma complexa organização visual de dados, que envolve elementos como bordas, guias, tipos e cores. Este artigo aborda sob o ponto de vista do design as regulamentações de seis países do continente americano para a formatação de tabelas nutricionais e discute a articulação de elementos gráficos com base na literatura. Dessa maneira, busca-se identificar e comparar padrões na apresentação de informações nutricionais para definir uma perspectiva internacional acerca do assunto. Conhecer exemplos e experiências de diferentes países constitui um caminho para formular estratégias que embasem o design de modelos direcionados a atender às necessidades informacionais das pessoas.

Nutritional labeling stands out as a tool to ensure information access, as well as stimulate consumers in making healthier choices. Among the many components of food products labels, the nutrition facts panel presents the detailed nutrient declaration. It is a complex visual organization of data, which involves elements such as borders, rules, type, and color. This article addresses, under a design perspective, the regulations of six countries in the American continent for the formats of nutrition facts panels. Then, it discusses the articulation of graphic elements according to the literature. This way, we seek to identify and compare patterns for the delivery of nutrition information in order to establish an international view concerning this theme. Learning from examples and experiences of different countries constitutes a means to formulate strategies that substantiate the design of models to meet the informational needs of people.
