"The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly influenced several sectors,including the domain of intellectual property. This article investigates the behavior ofpatents and utility models from 2019 to 2023, with special emphasis on the periodimpacted by the pandemic. It focuses on the number of deposits made with theNational Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) in Brazil. Through extensive datacollection and evaluation, the study reveals that there were no notable changes in thenumber of patents and model inventions filed during the COVID-19 period, nor werethere any significant changes in the Brazilian states that lead in patent applications."
