PRETREATMENT OF AGAVE BIOMASS FOR USE IN 2G ETHANOL PRODUCTION: AN OVERVIEW

PRETREATMENT OF AGAVE BIOMASS FOR USE IN 2G ETHANOL PRODUCTION: AN OVERVIEW

Costa, Elaynne Ayalla de Almeida ; Faria, Douglas José ; Guarieiro, Lilian Lefol Nani ; Oliveira, Otanea Brito de ; Miguel Junior, Antonio Rimaci ;

Completo:

"The pretreatment of Agave sp. is a crucial step in the process for producing 2G ethanol and encompasses a variety of methods. In this review, a bibliometric evaluation was conducted using the Web of Science databases and the VOSviewer software, where different pretreatments of Agave were assessed. The results indicate a growing interest in more sustainable methods, such as the use of ionic liquids, microwaves, ultrasound, and autohydrolysis. These methods represent a promising alternative to traditional processes that use acids, bases, and organic solvents, offering a simple, environmentally friendly, and efficient pretreatment option to produce biofuels."
