Tamoxifeno, uma droga derivada do trifeniletileno, é um antagonista de estrógeno não esteroidal, atuando modulando seletivamente receptores de estrógeno. Foi utilizado pela primeira vez em 1971 e, após comprovada sua eficácia, vem sendo amplamente utilizado como terapia hormonal adjuvante no tratamento do câncer de mama metastático com receptores de estrógeno positivos.
