CIDI:

Through approaches such as Participatory Design, artifacts and services have been designed based on social context. Several groups can be active participants in this design process, including elderly with dementia. In these cases, it is necessary to consider their skills and adapt techniques so that their contribution is valued. This article, which is part of an ongoing master’s research, aims to discuss the Cultural Probe technique, its basis and adaptations, focusing on examples of its application with elderly with dementia. To this end, a bibliographical research is carried out, starting from Participatory Design and the insertion of the technique in this approach. This reference will support the execution of a field study with the application of Cultural Probes with elderly with Alzheimer’s, seeking to propose an adaptation that considers the condition of the participants. In the context of Information Design, this article aims to contribute to the survey of methodological approaches that support the elaboration of artifacts, analogical and digital, intended for elderly with dementia, starting from discussions about Participatory Design and Cultural Probes.
