This theoretical and practical work shares thoughts about a graduation research project. Creation of a Digital Typographical Family through Means of Production Process and Print in Xylograph. Related to the discipline: Production of Scientific Texts and Elective of Illustration. Belonging to the NCM''s Degree in Technology in Graphic Design, developed at IFF - Instituto Federal Fluminense - Campos - Centre Campus, Campos dos Goytacazes / Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, replacing the Term Paper. It has been manually developed a digital typography family from the technic of xylography, aiming to stimulate the research in the graphic area, as well as contributing to the future of projects on Graphic Designer. The theoric support is sustained in Heitlinger, Herskovits, Horcades, among others, and were searched in the categories: The use of xylograph in the digital typographical production and the role of the graphic designer on the cultural rescue. The analysis of research results turns evident the possibility of research and practical use of xylography in the conception of a digital font, and being used to divulge the technic, as well as the Professional of Designer on their creative process of production can, and must, be a vector of appropriation and rescue of culture.
