Pôster:
The Federal University of Rondonópolis’ School of Medicine applies an important active teaching-learning methodology in its pedagogical structure. One of the subject included in this methodology is known as Interação Comunitária (Community Interaction), in which students get in touch since the first semester of college.
Materials and methods
This article is a descriptive experience report study, based on active teaching-learning methodologies, using house calls as a main resource of it.
Results
Using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) methods, focusing on what Marguerez’ theories propose, medical students could note that home calls, inside a Public Health scenario and according to the Unified Health System (SUS) principles, can point out to a real point of view that an illness is not only a result of a genetic inheritance, but it is a consequence which covers multiple factors within the Multifactorial Theory. Furthermore, these elements can also highlight a deeper approach between medical professionals and patients within the health-disease process.
Conclusion
The PBL method in this subject provides an improvement of skills and competences for the social and sanitary context. It has developed actions for reaching health promotion and diseases prevention and recovery. These areas were applied inside of a Family Health Strategy, counting on a multiprofessional team, in order to achieve a more humanized care and a holistic way to see the patient. Therefore, embracing his/hers bio-psycho-social characteristics that are envisioned by the current Public Health System.
