Two-dimensional mathematical modeling of cylindrical porous media in microwave-vacuum drying

Pôster:
A mathematical model based on multiphase flow in a cylindrical porous media described the microwave vacuum-drying process. It used the Lambert law for microwave heat source and the non-equilibrium formulation for water phase change. A numerical solution using the finite element method was compared to experimental drying data of ceramic samples. In both, it was observed three drying stages. The model solution highlighted that liquid drainage is the most intense water transport phenomena.
