Loyola, Mauricio ; Rossi, Bruno ; Montiel, Constanza ; Daiber, Max ;
:
Virtual Reality technology was used as a visualization tool in a participatorydesign process of an urban design project in Santiago, Chile. Communitymembers with little or no familiarity with digital technologies visualized theproject using traditional means of architectural representation and immersivevirtual reality, and then, answered standardized questionnaires on spatialcomprehension. Participants who visualized the project using virtual realityshowed a higher level of spatial comprehension and a more preciseunderstanding of the formal and spatial qualities of the project than users whoused traditional means.
