Trabalho completo:

Trabalho completo:

Considering India’s Ethanol Blending Program (EBP), its evolution of ethanol content in gasoline from 5% in 2014 to 20% in 2025, and current trends towards implementing Flex-Fuel vehicles, the aim of this paper is to provide technical insight into how the Brazilian automotive industry’s extensive Flex-Fuel hardware, software and calibration expertise can aid in the development process of India’s first Flex-Fuel vehicles. These insights will be detailed by reviewing ethanol’s physical properties and its impacts on vehicle components, such as engine and fuel system materials. Also, software requirements to optimize engine controls with ethanol will be discussed. Afterwards, different solutions explored by the Brazilian industry to face these challenges will be covered under the optics of India’s application characteristics, such as environmental aspects (e.g. temperatures and altitudes), available fuel blends and current hardware trends.
