Type specimens published by Brazilian type founders may reveal important information about the artefacts produced during the first centuries of letterpress printing in the country. This paper compares the content and the informational organization of 3 specimens to point out, among other things, variations and similarities in the design of characters and in the way type was offered for sale between the 19th and the 20th centuries.
