Full Article:
This article is part of an undergraduate research whose goal is to establish an overview of the design of packaging for industrialized sweet biscuits aimed at or consumed by children, traded in Sao Paulo, from September 2012 to March 2013. The research consists of two stages: field survey followed by semiotics and visual composition analysis. These analyses aim to evaluate what kind of information is present in packaging and how they are presented. 13 packs were analysed from a sample of 225 packs catalogued. The results indicate trends in the distribution and presentation of information. In the visual composition, the information regarding the brand, the flavour, the character and the beneficial nutritional qualities prevails. The obligatory information, in which the list of ingredients is part of, is placed in locations of lower display and receives less emphasis. It was also verified that the packages communicate messages using elements related to the child universe. These elements create an emotional involvement of the audience with the packaging and induce consumption.
