Collaborative processes of design and pictogram evaluation

In Brazil, is possible to witness almost daily some sort of disaster. Due to this fact, the idea of developing a project that, along with Graphic Design, citizenship and environment care, would contributing with a solution, came up. Considering all of this, the goal set was studying the theory, development and application of pictograms with a collaborative event (workshop) where the participants could get in touch with the pictogram’s universe. The idea of the workshop is to create graphic symbols that will be distributed for free by the website The Noun Project (thenounproject.com). It would follow the directions of the model suggested by Iconathon (iconathon.org), an organization of workshop models iniciated by the Noun Project, which provides pictograms for the public domain. The workshop theme – Natural Disasters and Catastrophy Management – establishes a relation with pictograms and the environment. Concepts such as landslip, floods, drought were selected among others to be drawn and developed on the process. It can be affirmed that the main purpose of this project is to reproduce the Iconathon (iconathon.org) model method, matching the actual theme.
