Creation of digital fonts from the typographic study of the book of XVI century, La Geografia, Claudio Ptolomeo Alessandro

Our research intend to realize a historical rescue, studying the typographies that were used in the print of the sixteenth century book La Geografia, from Claudio Ptolomeo Alessandro, in the development of a digital type. The drawing and the type characteristics to be developed intend to make reference to the typographic tradition of the sixteenth century Italian Renaissance, capturing the wear of time and imperfections of print, in an experimental process of digital type development, using the Open Type technology.
