Designers workflow and news visualization: the case of newspaper O Globo

This paper focuses on the steps for preparing the newspaper’s news and designer’s work. It describes the characteristics of an integrated newsroom and compares it with the work for tablet. It proposes a position for the designer, in which it acts in the beginning of the process and thus generates alternative solutions for information visualization. It was developed an analysis of design procedures at O Globo´s, by means of interviews with various designers, professionals from the printed newspaper, web site and application for tablet. As the traditional workflow was compared with the workflow implemented in O Globo a Mais, an evening newspaper for iPad.
