Deviance and interrelation between art and design

It is not uncommon to catch people referring to art and design as if both had the same meaning. This usually happens during informal conversations and tends to cause unnecessary confusion between the two terms, which are not synonymous. It is important to have certain in our minds what are the differences between art and design so that we can decide if these two axis are related by their common techniques or are naturally apart. Inherent of global modernity in which we are placed, the unclear boundary between art and design enlightens the direct link between the human condition and these two fields. Such link is essential for society to work properly and may be explained by the spread of appropriate solutions to mankind problems, incurring in better life conditions and dissemination of different cultures all over the planet. The fact that art and design are different concepts is undeniable. Among their differences are the distinct purposes, the way they are produced, the criteria used in their judgment and their target audience.
