Through the graphical analysis of periodicals created and published in Recife during the 1920s, in the state of Pernambuco, this research seeks to indicate how information on fashion and consumption was portrayed in the life of the city. In the advertisements for fashion products it identifies the representation of the artifacts created and the manner in which it was publicized through the local periodicals published throughout the decade. The present study aims to undertake a graphical analysis of the fashion advertisements published in the periodicals A Pilhéria, Rua Nova and Revista da Cidade during the 1920s, relating these graphical artifacts to both the social context and the period during which they appeared. The aim of this has been to strengthen the studies on Brazilian graphic memory, including graphical artifacts from various locations around the country, in this case Pernambuco, as representational instruments of our society, culture and history.
