Full Article:
For supporting the learning process of Descriptive Geometry, HyperCALGD uses different type of media such as texts, static images, photographs, animations and virtual reality models. The visual media contained in instructional materials can positively or negatively influence learning. The HyperCALGD was developed by the teachers of the subject in an experimental way. Despite the success of the tool, it was not verified if the graphics used in the software are suitable in promoting learning. Therefore, the aim of this article is to evaluate the graphic content of the HyperCALGD. The evaluation verifies the effectiveness of graphics related to the learning process of the subject students. To perform the evaluation, it was developed an evaluation method based on the analysis of the visual design methodology for instructional materials by Clark and Lyons (2011). The evaluation method abstracted from the Clark and Lyons (2011) model the key steps, such as the elements and actions, adapting them into an evaluation context. With the assessment method it was possible evaluate the 49 graphics in the first chapter of HyperCALGD. The first chapter was considered well represented. Thus, this graphical content does not require modifications to be considered effective in learning. However, some suggestions are pointed out to make it more effective.
