Magazine Arlequim: the graphic identity of the covers

The article presents the study of the information system of Arlequim’s covers (1927–1928). This kind of research belongs to a project of survey, identification and analysis of São Paulo magazines belong to the beginning of 20th century, at digital and analogical collections, attached to “Brazilian Graphic Memory: visual culture and ephemerus prints” project, which focuses on studying brazilian graphic design. Arlequim (1927-1928), a São Paulo magazine, lasted one year but marked its season . At Mario de Andrade’s collection was found some originals editions and at Braziliana USP, 24 of the 25 editions scanned. To understand the information system was important to know the historical context in which it was conceived, the development of graphic reproduction, consider the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic issues in and, at last, compare the system of covers’s visual identity.
