This paper discusses the role of digital fabrication in developing athletic footwear for high performance athletes in Brazil. For discussion were adopted the term ''Rapid Manufacturing'', proposed by Hopkinson, Hague and Dickens (2006), researchers at Loughborough University, and the idea of ​​democracy of consumption, resulting from industrial development, presented by Bonsiepe (2011). Secondly, an experiment was conducted, in which a custom insole for an athlete of high performance was developed, from an examination of baropodometry computed with data conversion to digital fabrication, in order to verify the possibility of developing a customized sports shoe with digital tools available today in Brazil.
