The information system of Brazilian cachaça labels from the early twentieth century to the present day

This article aims to demonstrate the manner in which the information system of cachaça labels has evolved from the early twentieth century to the present day. Changes are analyzed with samples of labels from three Brazilian states (Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) and were acquired from the Almirante Collection at theJoaquim Nabuco Foundation (Recife-PE), the National Library Foundation (Rio de Janeiro) and Guaianases Collection (ICP-UFPE). The main criterion of the analysis was the Brazilian legislation for labeling. Changes are analyzed through a timeline with the key rulings and laws that regulated labeling cachaça. The key moments are illustrated by examples of cachaça labels, which are also analyzed from the viewpoint of composition.
